Petition signing request to free Mohammad Reza Pourshajari

Mohammad Reza Pourshajari is a 54 year old blogger of the “Gozaresh be Khake Iran” (Report to Iranian Soil) weblog. His pen is Siamak Mehr. He was arrested in 2011 charged with criticizing political Islam and the Islamic Republic. He spent eight months in solitary confinement under interrogation and torture. In order to put more pressure on him, for two and a half years he was kept in general ward among criminals. He suffered two heart attacks due to terrible mental pressure, and also developed several other illnesses during that time.

After finishing his prison sentence, Mohammad Reza Pourshajari was released in September 2014, but he was arrested again 38 days later by security forces. He was illegally kept in solitary jail for a month and then transferred to Central Prison of Karaj. Last week, on February 7th 2015, after four months of suspense he went on a hunger strike in protest to his illegal arrest based on false charges. Since then he has been moved to solitary confinement and we have no news about his conditions.

The new charges against Mohammad Reza Pourshajari or “Siamak Mehr” are: propaganda against the regime, threatening the national security by contacting anti-revolutionary agents and the special reporter of United Nations “Ahmad Shaheed.” Where in fact since his release he had not participated in any political activity against the regime and all the charges are unsubstantial and false.

I, Mitra Pourshajari, his only child, consider my father’s health very concerning due to the recent hunger strike; and I ask for the support of all human rights activists and freedom seekers for his unconditional freedom.

Respectfully,

Mitra Pourshajari
